The roots of Thai massage trace back to Jivaka Kumar Bhacca, an Ayurvedic doctor born in India during the time of the Buddha. Revered in Thailand as the “father of medicine,” Jivaka’s extraordinary medical skills and profound knowledge of herbal medicine earned him a place in ancient texts, where he is noted for treating many important figures, including the Buddha himself.

Often referred to as “yoga massage” or “Thai yoga massage,” this practice involves the giver performing assisted yoga while the receiver remains completely passive. This method not only helps to relax and relieve aching muscles but also enhances circulation, alleviates pain, and promotes an overall sense of well-being and relaxation.
