Afrik Spa Therapy Treatments

Rungu Massage: 60 min or 90 min (R330, R440)

This unique massage is administered with a Rungu, a wooden baton with two polished balls at either end. This traditional throwing weapon of East African tribal cultures bears special symbolism and significance to the Maasia male warriors, who have for centuries used these tools for fighting and hunting. Now, the African Rungu is used to fight and defeat the effects that stress, anxiety and fatigue have upon our muscles. The Rungu Massage is a smooth, vigorous and stimulating deep-tissue massage that is designed to promote blood circulation, lymph drainage and sensory nerve perception while contributing to your sublime sense of relaxation and well-being.

Bamboo Massage: 60 min or 90 min (R330, R440)

This unique full body therapy involves a body, face and limb massage that incorporates bamboo stalks of varying lengths and diameters to promote lymph drainage, blood circulation, deep relaxation and muscle realignment simultaneously.

Calabash Massage: 60 min or 90 min (R330, R440)

Calabashes, dried and hollowed-out gourds used to carry liquids and medicinal concoctions by African tribe’s people, are used in various sizes and shapes in this soft to medium strength massage technique. As a natural and effective massage tool, the calabash is used to deeply relax the muscles while the soft susurrus of the dried seeds shifting about within the gourd form the most pleasant and therapeutic background whisper.

Ukuchina Massage: 60 min or 90 min (R330, R440)

The Ukuchina is a traditional Zambian massage that makes use of touch therapy, stretching and the application of heat to relieve muscle tension, fatigue and knots. The overall benefits are deep relaxation of the body as well as the spirit.

Full Body Hot Stone or Hot Towel Treatment: 60 min or 90 min (R330, R440)

Using hot stones to alleviate stiff muscles, back pain and stress is a practice that dates as far back as 400 BC! Hot stones or towels combined with essential oils, are placed carefully on the vital points of the body where stress tends to be harboured in order to dissolve tension, muscle pain and aches.

Foot, Neck, Back and Shoulders Massage: 60 or 90 min (R330, R440)

This reflexology treatment concentrates on the delicate areas of the feet, back, neck and shoulders, where so much tension is frequently kept. The African therapist uses natural techniques derived from traditional tribal practices to stimulate and balance the body through the targeting of pressure points. This treatment is perfect for the relief and relaxation of those stiff neck and shoulder muscles, aching back and fatigued feet.
