Kai Thai presents the “Fish therapy Spas” which are the first fully equipped fish spas in South Africa.

The Garra species or ‘doctor fish’ is the name given to the two species of Garra Rufa and Cyprinion fish, which are essentially little dermatologists in a non-medical sense.

This harmless species of fish originate in Turkey, living and breeding in outdoor pools of Turkish spas, where they have been used for hundreds of years to feed on the dead and affected skin of patients presenting with medical conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and other dermatological complaints.

After treatment, the healthy tissue is left to grow normally. These incredible fish are also helpful for removing of skin smear and aging cortex, improving blood circulation and maintaining healthy skin.

Generally spas of this nature are not meant as a curative treatment option but only to alleviate symptoms, with many patients revisiting the spas on a regular basis.

Having said this, in some cases, patients have experienced a complete cure of Psoriasis! Of course, due to the unpredictable nature of this disease, this is not a guarantee.
